The International Herald Tribune, in its Sept. 28 issue, hollister, carried an article featuring comments North Korean defectors made prior to the second inter-Korean summit. "North Koreans who have recently left their country told us they knew their wishes would not be heard by their own leader and expressed hope that they would be heard by President Roh Moo-hyun, it said. "I heard there has been a lot of foreign aid in the past 10 years, but I haven't even seen its shadow, scarpe hogan," said a 39-year-old woman from Cheongjin said. A 40-year-old man from Hyesan echoed the sentiment: "I hope the summit will help resolve the food crisis in North Korea. I never received any food aid, chaussures louboutin, nor do I know anyone who has."
Roh attended summit meetings, dinners and a performance and visited facilities in North Korea last week. It is unlikely that these things had much to do with the living conditions of North Koreans; on the contrary, his itinerary stood in a disagreeably stark contrast to the miserable daily lives of North Koreans. It is no more certain that his visit there had anything to do with the daily lives of South Koreans.
An unpopular lame-duck president whose term will in effect be over in two months meets the North Korean dictator from whom -- contrary to Rohs entry in the guestbook -- no happiness for his people springs. Its hard to remember anything much about the summit except the moment when the two men clutched and raised each other's hands over their heads, moncler outlet, just to show their nerve. Roh and his aides are trying to win endorsement for a document he signed in Pyongyang, claiming his visit has something to do with "peace." But South Koreans dont want to see their fate bound by a signed document that has failed to win their hearts.
No matter how vociferously South Korean delegates clamor about their achievements in Pyongyang, people only remember that the South Korean president in fact danced to North Korean leader Kim Jong-il's tune when he went to the North. People will also remember how the president curried favor with, hollister pas cher, tried to find ways to help and to win the hearts of the North Korean leader while seeking to avoid incurring his displeasure at all times.
Reporters and some members of the South Korean presidential delegation say they were perplexed to see the North Korean regime force 100,000 people including children to carry out a propaganda performance despite its dependence on foreign aid. The South Korean people are more upset to see how Roh and his entourage mentioned neither reform and opening nor North Korea's nuclear weapons and human rights abuses, from a craven need to curry favor with the regime.
I am curious what Kim Jong-il made of Roh and his entourage, mercurial vapor. I only hope they dont hold all South Koreans in contempt just because of the way the president and his entourage behaved in Pyongyang.
In our own eyes, barbour jacket sale, Roh and entourage failed to display sharp wit, right mind and dignity -- at least if the reports from the press pool are to be believed. On the contrary, Roh and his delegation appeared timid, hogan outlet, cowed by Pyongyang or dazzled by the historic nature of the summit. They sneaked glances at things out of the corner of their eyes. Their hands clapped as if of their own accord. They looked frozen stiff in their efforts to remain calm.
No leader should insist on having his own way at a summit every time. Yet I wish Roh had, or had even used the chopped logic during his stay in Pyongyang that he so enjoys in South Korea. But he did or said nothing in his own style while he was in Pyongyang, hollister france, except for his rejection of Kim's request to stay longer.
Worst of all was the trickiness of the declaration for the advancement of South-North Korean relations, hollister pas cher, peace and prosperity." The expressions in the declaration -- such as "the South and the North have agreed not to interfere in the internal affairs of the other, giubbotti moncler," "the South and the North have agreed to overhaul their respective legislative and institutional apparatuses in a bid to develop inter-Korean relations in a reunification-oriented direction," or "a joint fishing area" -- are either a clever camouflage of North Korean demands or disguises donned with the South Korean people's anxieties in mind.
The expressions sound ambiguous, but it's easy enough to work out what they mean. They are, hollister france, in fact, codes that try not to remind the South Korean people of what they feel sensitive about. In reality, the declaration reflects North Korea's unilateral demands that South Korea should shut up about human rights or the nuclear problem and get rid of the National Security Law.
The resolution of inter-Korean problems should ultimately lead to uniting the South Korean people with their compatriots in the North. Like all other summits, an inter-Korean summit, particularly in the current circumstances, is worthwhile only when the leaders have the support and respect of their own people. That was never clearer than last week.相关的主题文章:

The opening day box office for "Dragon Wars" topped that of all other Korean films released in the U.S. so far, including "The Host", "Typhoon", "Spring Summer Fall Winter and Spring" and "Taegukgi: Brotherhood of War".
